The English Summary 

The story of The Count of Monte Cristo follows Edmond Dantès, a young and honest sailor whose life is full of promise. He is about to marry his beloved Mercédès and receive a promotion at work. However, his happiness is destroyed when he is falsely accused of treason by jealous enemies and imprisoned in the Château d’If.

During his long years in prison, Dantès meets an intelligent prisoner named Abbé Faria, who educates him and reveals the secret of a hidden treasure on the island of Monte Cristo. After a daring escape, Dantès finds the treasure and reinvents himself as the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo.

With his new identity, wealth, and intelligence, he carefully plans revenge against those who betrayed him. However, as his plan unfolds, he begins to realize that revenge comes at a high cost and does not always bring true happiness.

In the end, the novel delivers a powerful message about justice, patience, and forgiveness, showing that hope and redemption are always possible.

• إدموند تولى قيادة السفينة "فرعون" بعد المرض الشديد لقائد السفينة ثم موته، وقد نجح في اجتياز العواصف والتفاوض مع التجار والحفاظ على حمولة السفينة والوصول بها لأرض الوطن سالمة.
• صاحب السفينة والشركة، مسيو موريل، وعده بتولي قيادة السفينة وبالترقي أكثر لو خدمه بإخلاص.
• كان في انتظار إدموند والده العجوز وحبيبته مرسيدس 
• نظر إلى إدموند بعين الحسد والكراهية كلًا من: فيرناند مونديجو الذي كان يحب مرسيدس منذ الطفولة لكنه لم تبادله الحب وأحبت إدموند فحقد عليه. وكذلك دانجلر، أمين صندوق السفينة، الذي حقد على إدموند بسبب ترقيته إلى كابتن السفينة و تخطيه في الترقية فأضمر الشر وأراد الانتقام منه.

• بالفعل، نتج عن الخطاب المرسل أن تم اعتقال إدموند بتهمة الخيانة أثناء الوليمة التي نظمها للاحتفال بخطوبته على مرسيدس.

The English Summary of Chapter (1)

·  Edmond returned from a sea voyage on board the ship “Pharaon”, during which he passed by Smyrna and Naples before arriving at the port of Marseille.

·  Edmond took command of the ship “Pharaon” after the captain fell seriously ill and later died. He successfully overcame storms, negotiated with traders, protected the ship’s cargo, and brought it safely back home.

·  The ship owner, Monsieur Morrel, promised Edmond that he would appoint him as the captain and offer him further promotion if he served him loyally.

·  Edmond was warmly welcomed by his old father and his beloved fiancée, Mercédès.

·  However, Edmond was envied and hated by two men: Fernand Mondego, who had loved Mercédès since childhood but she did not return his feelings, and Danglars, the ship’s treasurer, who was jealous of Edmond’s promotion and wanted revenge.

·  The two men secretly planned against Edmond. They met in a tavern and decided to send a letter to the authorities accusing him of conspiracy and treason against the state and the king.

·  As a result of this letter, Edmond was arrested on charges of treason during the celebration he had organized for his engagement to Mercédès.
