الطاقم قابل كابتن نيمو الذي شرح لهم أن سفينته (نوتيلوس) تم صناعتها للحياة تحت سطح البحر. وهي مزودة بالكهرباء ويمكنها السفر لمسافات طويلة دون الحاجة للصعود لسطح البحر.
Captain Nemo, after welcoming them politely, made it clear that no one of them will return to land once aboard. They will remain with him as long as they lived.
بعد أن رحب بهم كابتن نيمو، أوضح لهم أنه لا أحد منهم سوف يعود مرة أخرى للأرض بمجرد صعوده للسفينة. فهم سوف يظلون في السفينة معه طوال حياتهم.
Professor Aronnax accepted as he wanted to learn about the ocean's secrets. Conseil; the professor's loyal servant, stayed with his master. But Ned Land did not accept and felt angry as he valued freedom most. So, he began making a plan to escape.

Life on the Nautilus was astonishing as it looked like a floating palace under water. It had a library, a museum, and big windows to see the deep ocean. Nemo showed them treasures gathered from the sea: pearls, gold, and ancient artifacts.
الحياة في السفينة نوتيلوس كانت مدهشة حيث أنها كانت تشبه قصرًا يسبح تحت الماء. يوجد فيها مكتبة، متحف، ونوافذ ضخمة لرؤية قاع المحيط. كابتن نيمو أراهم كنوز تم جمعها من البحر مثل الآلئ، الذهب، والقطع الأثرية القديمة.
Nemo kept himself away from land. He thought that the sea was his only homeland.
